The Very Hungry Caterpillar

( This blog is already published in IMC )

The Very Hungry Caterpilar is a wonderful picture book to be in every kids library. Eric Carle, the author and illustrator of the book has a very unique way of illustrating his books. This book potraits the journey of a caterpillar from an egg to a beautiful butterfly.
After reading and re-reading it so many times, Ri (my 6 year old daughter) and me thought of crafting this book in our own way.
Here are the steps.
1) We started with making an egg with a sponge and stuck it on a leaf made with green chart paper.

2) The next stage was the Cocoon. For that first we cut the White chart paper in oval shape. Then for making the cocoon we used the pista shells.

3)The third stage was the making of the Caterpillar. Ri wanted it to be as it is in the book. So I drew it for her like that and she coloured it using different shades of green.

4) The final stage- Making of the butterfly. For that we used two different coloured square paper of different sizes. One little bigger than the other. Using the fan folding technique we made the wings of the butterfly. Then using the pipe cleaners we made the body and antennae of the butterfly.

And Bingo we finished making it and here is the final full craft :)

Happy blogging,
